Your adventure begins with a morning transfer from Moshi to Machame Gate, where your guide completes park registration and introduces you to your mountain crew.

The trail winds through lush rainforest rich with giant trees, colourful orchids, moss-covered trunks, and abundant birdlife. Keep an eye out for black-and-white colobus monkeys and blue monkeys as you ascend through the forest.

By late afternoon, arrive at Machame Camp, beautifully situated just above the rainforest.

Today’s trail leaves the rainforest and climbs through giant heather and moorland onto the magnificent Shira Plateau, one of Kilimanjaro’s oldest volcanic formations.

As the vegetation becomes sparse, spectacular views of Kibo Peak begin to dominate the landscape, while Mount Meru rises majestically in the distance on clear days.

Arrive at Shira Camp during the afternoon and enjoy the first panoramic sunset over the mountain.

Today is one of the most important days for acclimatization.

Climb steadily toward the impressive Lava Tower, a massive volcanic rock formation standing at 4,630 metres. After lunch, descend into the spectacular Barranco Valley, following the internationally recognised principle of “climb high, sleep low.”

The descent allows your body to adapt naturally to the altitude while enjoying one of Kilimanjaro’s most scenic valleys.

Begin the day by climbing the famous Barranco Wall. Although it appears intimidating, the climb is non-technical and rewards you with breathtaking panoramic views across the southern glaciers.

Continue through the Karanga Valley before reaching Barafu Camp, your final base camp before the summit.

After an early dinner, your guide will provide a detailed briefing and equipment check before everyone rests for a few hours.

Return briefly to Barafu Camp for refreshments before continuing to Mweka Camp, where you’ll enjoy a well-earned rest.
